Mirror Edging
Mirror Edge Finishes Explained: Polished and Bevelled Edges
Choosing the right mirror edging is important for both appearance and practicality. When selecting a bespoke mirror, the edge finish makes a big difference to how it looks and how it can be used. Below is a clear guide to the mirror edging options we offer, along with an important note on safety and quality.
Polished Mirror Edging (our standard finish)
All of our mirrors are supplied with a polished edge as standard.
A polished edge is the most popular and practical mirror finish, offering both a clean appearance and safe handling.
- Smooth, flat and even edge all the way around
- Lightly mitred on the front and back
- Safe to touch and handle
- Suitable for exposed edges
Best for: wall mirrors, bathroom mirrors, gym mirrors and any installation where the edges will be visible.
We have chosen to make polished edges our standard because they provide the best balance of safety, durability and a high quality finish for our customers.
Bevelled Mirror Edging
A bevelled edge is a decorative finish that adds a more premium, framed appearance.
- Angled edge that tapers towards the outer edge of the mirror
- Typically 25–30 mm wide
- Reflects light and adds depth
Best for: feature mirrors, decorative wall mirrors and statement pieces.
The bevel creates a subtle border around the mirror, giving it a more elegant and finished look.
Why we do not offer Clean Cut Edges
In the past, mirrors could be supplied with a clean cut edge, meaning the glass was left unprocessed after cutting.
However, this leaves the edge:
- Very sharp and uneven
- Prone to small chips
- Unsafe to handle
For the safety of both our team and our customers, we have made the decision not to offer clean cut mirrors. By supplying all mirrors with polished edges as standard, we ensure every product is safe, practical and finished to a consistently high standard.
Understanding the different mirror edging options will help you choose the right finish for your space, whether you need a clean polished edge or a more decorative bevelled design.
